Ganache

The milk simmered in the pot.

Turning off the heat, I stirred in chocolate, watching as it melted. I wasn't sure what I was going to use this ganache for, but I'd felt like making it.

At the very lest, I'd be able to pour some of it over ice cream and brownies to make a tasty dessert tonight.

Maybe I'd make some truffles with the rest, though that was perhaps more effort than I was willing to go into today. Luckily, the ganache would keep well for a while, and soften back to a melted state with little difficulty.

If I ran out of ideas, I could always invite some friends over and let them dip little treats into it.

Sometimes, it was the process of creating that I enjoyed more than the final result.

Too Excited to Sleep

Sometimes you are too excited to sleep. Thoughts, ideas, plans, and dreams bounce around in your brain, leaving no room for rest.

When such an event occurs, one mught be inclined to crease their attempts to sleep, and heed whatever siren is cooing for them to remain awake.

Such an inclination is a trap, which one should evade whenever possible.

It might seem like an insignificant thing, to steal away a few minutes or an hour away from sleep.

But each time you give in, the time spent not sleeping with grow ever longer, until suddenly you have no time to sleep at all.

When the moment comes, you will mourn the loss of sleep, and wonder how it ever came about.

All it takes is a couple of stolen minutes given over to a noisy idea.

So beware.

Birds and a Cat

The birds were singing.

It was a pleasant song, full of joy at the brilliant morning just waking around them. Gentle light was steadily growing with each passing moment, and more birds joined the chorus as they fluttered about their morning routines.

From the other side of a window, a cat sat, staring longingly at each bird that passed by. The cat couldn't get outside, but gave a chattering as she watched the birds she could never catch.

It was a good day to be a bird.

Not such a pleasant day for the cat, though.

Friendships Bring Growth

The impact of friendships can be felt for far longer than said friendships might even last.

Years down the road, you may look back at a childhood friendship, smile, and go on with your life, content in the knowledge that particular friendship helped you to grow.

Sometimes, it is as simple as discovering a favorite food. Other times, a friendship could be the catalyst for a key interest you carry.

The power of friendships is vast and deep, and not something that everyone realizes. Some are careless in their friendships— scattering comments around like dandelion seeds carried by the wind. They take root in others' hearts, but produce weedlike traits that harm the figurative garden of their friends' hearts.

So be careful of how you act around your friends. For as mnuch as they can influence you for great good or ill, so too can you change their course without fully meaning to.

Time With Those You Love

Spending time with those you love can be really fun.

Family bonds are strengthened with each opportunity to gather around.

The cheerful laughter of children is such a wonderful sound.

When all are together, the day really is such a blast.

And you'rr left wishing that such moments would always last.
